We recently watched a couple movies (we are very behind in movie viewing – I blame the DVR).
Dan in Real Life
This movie was good. Not great, but good. I guess it can be called a “romantic comedy” – it is the story of a widower with 3 daughters who meets a woman and falls in love. Of course its not that easy, she happens to be his brother’s girlfriend. There were several scenes that made me laugh out loud, and others that made me squirm because of how uncomfortable the situations were.
Steve Carell did a fairly good job playing a more serious role, although there were a few moments that made me think of Michael Scott (the character he plays in the Office).
National Treasure 2
Another great family movie. This sequel was as good as the first, which can be difficult. The premise of this movie is to clear the name of Ben Gate’s great grandfather, and to find treasure (of course). The pacing is good, fast enough to keep viewers engaged, but not so fast that you lose track of what is going on.

Bret & I just rented and watched National Treasure 2 this last weekend and I really liked it.
Bret & I also watched ‘Dan in Real Life’ a little while ago and I totally agree with your critique of the movie! Funny in parts and definately uncomfortable in others.
